Preheat your smoker to 225°F (107°C). In a small bowl, mix together the olive oil, minced garlic, smoked paprika, brown sugar, black pepper, onion powder, dried thyme, dried rosemary, and kosher salt to create a flavorful rub.
Pat the prime rib roast dry with paper towels, then rub the seasoning mixture all over the meat, ensuring it's coated evenly. Place the seasoned prime rib on the smoker rack and close the lid.
Smoke the prime rib for about 4-5 hours or until the internal temperature reaches 135°F (57°C) for medium-rare, or your preferred doneness.
During the last hour of smoking, add the beef broth to the drip pan of the smoker to keep the meat moist and tender. When the prime rib is done smoking, remove it from the smoker and let it rest for about 15-20 minutes before slicing.
Serve the smoked prime rib with your favorite BBQ sauce on the side for dipping or drizzle the sauce over the sliced meat for an extra punch of flavor.
